Sawgrass Marriott – Ponte Vedra Beach – 2016. The iconic Sawgrass Marriott is nearing the completion of a resort-wide, $25 million “refresh.” Enhancements will be seen throughout its 511 guestrooms/villas, resort pool area, modernized front desk area, hotel façade, the Sawgrass Spa and Cabana Beach Club. Other exciting facets of the project are a new “Butler Serviced” guest wing, and soon-to-be-launched The American Gator Club restaurant.


Streamline Hotel –  Daytona Beach – 2016. This historic hotel is an art deco-style property that once hosted the meeting that launched NASCAR, as well as a recent episode of Hotel Impossible.

Chateau Elan Hotel & Conference Center – Highlands County – 2016. Chateau Elan Hotel & Conference Center recently underwent a $250,000 renovation by updating 81 bathrooms with rain LED showers and glass walls.  With trackside viewing, conference meeting space, and golf packages, this hotel and spa is the perfect place for a stop. Retreat to the hotel to experience the area’s only European-style spa complete with a full range of beauty and body treatments. 

Loews Sapphire Falls Resort – Orlando- Summer 2016. Universal Orlando Resort and Loews Hotels & Resorts have announced plans to build the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort. It will be the fifth onsite hotel at Universal Orlando Resort, featuring 1,000 rooms and suites with a casual Caribbean theme, built around a lagoon and towering waterfall.

The Edison – Disney Springs Orlando – 2016. The Edison, similar to its sister location in Los Angeles, is the third new venue announced to open at Disney Springs. With a theme that centers around a 1920s-period electric company with live entertainment, classic American food and craft cocktails, the industrial gothic space will have 35-foot ceilings and a number of themed areas

Frontera Fresco – Disney Springs Orlando – Summer 2016. The new Mexican dining concept from Chef Rick Bayless, will open at Disney Springs in summer 2016. Chef Bayless is a six-time James Beard Foundation winner, aiming to showcase the gourmet Mexican cuisine that has made him a culinary legend at Frontera Fresco.

STK Orlando -Disney Springs Orlando – 2016.  STK Orlando joins the host of new venues coming to Disney Springs in early 2016. The upscale steakhouse blends two concepts into one-the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge. Unique features include a live DJ, high-energy atmosphere and a sleek environment designed to encourage guests to interact and mingle.

Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine – Disney Springs Orlando – Summer 2016. This restuarant owned by celebrity Chef Art Smith, is bringing a taste of real Florida to a new restaurant opening in summer 2016 at Disney Springs. The restaurant will showcase the cuisine of Chef Smith, who was born and reared in the town of Jasper, Fla., on the Florida-Georgia border. After 25 years of preparing award-winning meals for celebrities and heads of state, he is making Florida his home once again.

DoveCoteOrlando – Spring 2016. DoveCove in downtown Orlando is the next project for James Beard nominated chefs, James and Julie Petrakis, who also own Winter Park’s Ravenous Pig, Cask & Larder and Swine & Sons, set to open in spring. A twist on the Classic French brasserie, Chef Clayton Miller, a past winner of a “Best New Chef” award from Food & Wine magazine, who also worked under Thomas Keller at French Laundry, will oversee the kitchen.

Cask & Larder – Orlando – Summer 2016. Cask & Larder at Orlando International Airport, another expansion for the Petrakises, will open summer 2016. The airport outpost for the popular Winter Park restaurant that was named one of Esquire magazine’s Best New Restaurants in America in 2014, will be the first restaurant at the airport to specialize in seasonally driven cuisine and locally sourced ingredients.

Brewstillery – Winter Park – 2016. Winter Park Distilling Company announced plans for a new facility that combines a craft brewery, taproom and retail showroom at a new location in the City of Winter Park. The “Brewstillery” will be the first-of-its-kind in the State of Florida. It is set to open in 2016, featuring tours on a daily basis.

Opal Sands Resort – Clearwater Beach – February 24. Ocean Properties’ stunning new luxury resort with a sleek, mid-century vibe and a gently curving façade fronting the Gulf of Mexico, will bring another world-class option to Clearwater Beach—and a new level of sophistication to the entire Gulf Coast. All 230 guest rooms boast unobstructed views o the Gulf’s emerald waters, and 17,000 square feet of waterfront meeting space make it the perfect choice for business or pleasure.

Treasure Island Beach Resort – Treasure Island – March 5. This luxury property includes 77 one-and two-bedroom suites, all offering a view of the Gulf, with kitchens and porch or balcony. It gives the “middle beaches” of St. Pete/Clearwater a luxury product that hasn’t existed until now. It’s also part of the same OPAL Collection as the Opal Sands mentioned above.

Encore Club at Reunion Resort – Kissimmee – March 2016. Encore Club at Reunion Resort, a new luxury community in Kissimmee, is scheduled to debut on March 2016. Located just five miles from Walt Disney World Resorts, this upscale ‘resort within a resort’ provides just the right touch of family-focused fun and elegant living. A tropical clubhouse crowns the center of the community surrounded by its very own water park filled with adrenaline-packed drop slide towers, pools, restaurant, bar, lounge and so much more!

Magic Village Resort – Kissimmee – 2016. Magic Development is excited to present Magic Village Resort: a unique, luxury, concierge-style community with 180 houses featuring four different floor plans, exclusive services, privacy and comfort. The houses are beautifully designed by experienced and refined architects and are fully equipped with modern decoration. Red Lion Hotel Orlando – Kissimmee Maingate – 2016. The first Red Lion-branded franchise location in Florida has opened in Kissimmee—the Red Lion Hotel Orlando – Kissimmee Maingate. It has 516 guest rooms, complimentary parking and Wi-Fi, and Angel’s Rock n’ Roll Café-Bar. Set on 23 sprawling acres with lush landscaping, stunning fountains, mesmerizing water views and community fire pits, the property has become a popular meeting space for engagement parties, bridal showers, weddings and receptions.

Red Lion Hotel Orlando – Lake Buena Vista South – Kissimmee – November 2016. A second hotel bearing the Red Lion flag is planned to open in November. The Red Lion Hotel Orlando – Lake Buena Vista South is currently undergoing extensive renovations and will feature 416 guest rooms and suites, a lazy river, poolside sports bar and more.

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott – Kissimmee – Summer 2016. Located on the tourism corridor and minutes from the attractions, a new 150-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott is expected to open in Kissimmee summer 2016.

Island Grove Wine Company at Formosa Gardens – Kissimmee – Summer 2016.  The winery will feature wine demonstrations, a micro-brewery, a French pastry shop and over 3,000 sq. feet of meeting space for corporate meetings, weddings and festivals. A 5-acre botanical garden will grow organic fruits and vegetables, while maintaining sustainable agricultural practices that include biodynamic practices, permaculture and hydroponics.

Outdoor Kitchen and Edible Garden – Bok Tower Gardens – April 2016. Bok Tower Gardens announces the opening of the all new Outdoor Kitchen and Edible Garden on Saturday, April 9th at 9am. Located adjacent to the Visitors Center, this new area offers a modern design in harmony with the landscape and allows guests to enjoy a celebration of fresh food and culinary programming. The opening of this much anticipated area is part of the largest capital expansion campaign ever undertaken by the Gardens in its 87-year history.


Courtyard Marathon Florida Keys – Florida Keys – January 2016. The new hotel will feature panoramic bay views and a white sand beachfront. Located at 2146 Overseas Highway, the hotel will feature 83 contemporary guest rooms, some with balconies overlooking Florida Bay, and 12 deluxe suites. Hotel guests can enjoy an infinity pool, fitness center, pool bar and on-site casual dining. Other amenities include on-site parking, local restaurant dinner delivery and more than 14,000 square feet of total meeting space.

Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort – Fort Lauderdale – 2016. The new $147 million, 349-room Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort is now open on the Broadwalk, featuring eight restaurants/bars, three pools, full-service St. Somewhere Spa, and 30,000 sq. ft. of flexible function space.

Beachwalk Resort Fort Lauderdale – 2016. Beachwalk Resort recently opened along the Intracoastal Waterway in Hallandale Beach, with 216 resort units, infinity pool and restaurant. Its beachfront sister property, HYDE Resort opens in 2017 with 367 units, a pool, spa, restaurant.

B Ocean Resort in Fort Lauderdale Fort Lauderdale – mid-2016. The new B Ocean Resort in Fort Lauderdale is undergoing an extensive renovation including lobby, restaurants, corridors, outdoor and public spaces, all 487 guestrooms and suites, plus the addition of new features including two B Indulged® Spa Suites AVEDA, dining venue and new meeting space.

Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort – Fort Lauderdale – Summer 2016. The Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort is expected to open in Summer 2016 with 290 expansive studio and suite accommodations, four alfresco dining experiences, a 4,000-sq ft ocean view spa and fitness center, elevated deck oasis with an ocean-facing pool and plush cabanas, and 20,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space.

Marriott Hollywood Beach – 2016. A dramatic reinvention of all guestrooms, restaurant, bar and lobby.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide – Sarasota County – February 2016.

Aloft – Sarasota County – 2016. Offering 139 rooms, an outdoor Splash pool, a bar, fitness and 610 feet of flexible meeting space.

Siesta Beach Renovations – Sarasota County – 2016. Winner of TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award for Best Beach in North America in 2015, Siesta Beach received a $21.5 million improvement including new playgrounds for children, 150 additional, free parking spaces and a renovation of a Sarasota School of Architecture pavilion. 

Hilton West Palm Beach – The Palm Beaches – January 2016. This 400-room hotel will be connected to the Palm Beach County Convention Center by an enclosed walkway, and will add a new dimension to the county’s tourism appeal. The property will offer two ballrooms and eight conference rooms, as well as additional event space. It will also feature a 225-seat restaurant named “Manor,” which will showcase the talents of renowned local chef Matthew Byrne of the acclaimed eatery, Kitchen. 

Hyatt Place property – The Palm Beaches – Summer 2016. The 200-room, 13-story Hyatt Place Boca Raton. The hotel will include an 8,000-square-foot restaurant, as well as 4,000 square feet of meeting space and retail.

Grato The Palm Beaches –  2016. James Beard Award-nominated chef, Clay Conley, and his partners in Buccan Group will open Grato, a modern Italian trattoria-inspired restaurant in West Palm Beach in late 2015. Grato, which means “grateful” in Italian, will feature an approachable family-style menu and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Anticipate rustic Italian cuisine and soulful dishes that characterize Conley’s mastery of ingredients and technique, made from the highest-quality local ingredients.

THE REGIONAL Kitchen & Public House – The Palm Beaches – Fall 2016. Celebrated South Florida Chef and season nine “Top Chef” finalist Lindsay Autry has partnered with seasoned restaurateur Thierry Beaud to open THE REGIONAL Kitchen & Public House in downtown West Palm Beach’s popular dining and entertainment destination, CityPlace. THE REGIONAL intends to present a unique perspective on America’s time-honored cuisine through local ingredients, seasonally-influenced dishes and the soulful inspiration of a chef-driven kitchen.  

West Palm Beach Food Tour – The Palm Beaches –  2016. Sip, sample and savor the flavor of West Palm Beach with 12 generous tastings from top local restaurants on the new West Palm Beach Food Tour, hosted by local foodie Kristl Story. Christopher’s Kitchen – The Palm Beaches – February 2016. A second location for the popular vegan restaurant, Christopher’s Kitchen, is slated to open in West Palm Beach in February 2016. Owned and operated by Chef Christopher Slawson, the restaurant will use honest techniques and ingredients that maximize real nutritional value for healthful results. Joining Slawson’s first location in Palm Beach Gardens, the new eatery will be a place where casual elegance and an unrelenting passion for the finest organic living food can harmoniously co-exist.

Hyatt House Naples/Fifth Avenue Naples – March 15. The new Hyatt House Naples/Fifth Avenue along the picturesque Gordon River section of Naples Bay opened on March 15, 2016. Naples architect Matt Kragh designed the 183 residentially inspired rooms and suites with an Old Florida feel with modern touches, featuring an off-white exterior plus parapets and cornices.  Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee – Naples – 2016. The Seminole Tribe of Florida has added a new 99-room hotel at its casino and entertainment complex in Immokalee just northeast of Naples featuring modern décor with a fresh Florida feel. The entire Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee complex is now 175,600 square feet, up from its previous total of 75,600 square feet. The casino floor expansion now totals more than 51,000 square feet, with more than 1,300 slot machines and 38 live table games. The 99-room hotel features 19 suites and 80 deluxe guestrooms on four stories, plus a swimming pool with adjacent private Seminole Chickee cabana huts.

 Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa – Marco Island – 2016. The Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa has completed the first phase of a $250 million transformation that will ultimately result in its rebranding to the first JW Marriott Beach Resort in the continental U.S. The resort now has 716 newly renovated and enhanced guestrooms, new dining options, a re-imagined lobby and lots of amenities while work continues on a new resort tower. The new Tiki Bar that opened in Winter 2016 offers a retro-cool setting, an extensive menu of rums and rum-based drinks, all just steps from the pool and the beach. When all work is complete, the resort will debut on January 1, 2017 as the JW Marriott Beach Resort Marco Island. A new tower will feature celebrity chef driven restaurants, new meeting space, a luxurious new adults-only pool deck and much more.

1500 South – Naples – 2016. Celebrity chef Art Smith brings a new restaurant concept to Naples in 2016. His 1500 South waterfront restaurant is located at Naples Bay Resort and will feature something new and different. “I will be pairing Southern American food with what I just saw in Milan at the World’s Fair. Italian families understand the love and power of food so the pairing is perfect,” said Smith. “For Naples’ sophisticated diners this will definitely be a one of a kind menu with a lot of surprises,” Smith added. Art Smith is an acclaimed chef and was Oprah’s personal chef for more than a decade.

Oceans Edge Key West Hotel & Marina – Key West. The 20-acre Oceans Edge Key West Hotel & Marina is scheduled to open in mid-December with 175 suites and rooms and six pools. Spacious units range from 382 to 575 square feet. An on-site marina has 111 wet and 52 dry slips. Oceans Edge, developed by Singh Investors, is located at 5950 Peninsular Ave.

Hotel Key West – Key West – Early 2017. The 100-room boutique Hotel Key West, located within the Stock Island Marina Village complex, is to open in the first quarter of 2017. All rooms will have water views and property amenities include a lush pool area, watersports options and a full-service restaurant. The $38 million hotel is to include flexible small group, incentive and event space. It will offer the Keys’ largest deep-water marina, featuring 220 slips and will be able to accommodate vessels up to 300 feet long. The Hotel Key West is located at 7001 Shrimp Road.
