Chukkers, Champagne and Sunshine

Indulge in Florida’s Finer Side

Florida’s sunny skies, sandy beaches, lush vegetation and warm waters have attracted visitors from all over the world since the 19th Century. But in recent decades, the Sunshine State has adapted to more sophisticated tastes and niche interests as tourists on vacation favor experiences ranging from golf to foodie-focused to outdoor adventures. While Florida’s proud cornerstones will always be its top-rated beaches and one-of-a-kind theme parks, there is so much more to this gorgeous peninsula – if you know where to look.

As the saying goes, “Sometimes you just need to be pampered.” While that may be a 21st Century motto, it could to some extent be a Sunshine State slogan. From coast to coast, there is an abundance of high-end resorts and boutique hotels that exude luxury. World-renowned golf courses intersect with five-star dining and unique spa experiences, all at the same architecturally unique properties. Equine events and experiences bring the world’s top riders to show off their skills in jumping, dressage and the sheer athleticism found on the polo field. Florida offers an uncompromising look at the crème de la crème.

A vintage Bordeaux, presented for your tasting by a house sommelier. Freshly caught grouper bathed in butter and garlic. Heirloom tomatoes sliced thickly alongside milky buffalo mozzarella. An aged Chateaubriand tenderloin, served sizzling. If these images make your mouth water, you’ll find plenty of tantalizing dining options in Florida.

For the weary traveler who wants to indulge in some retail therapy, Florida is a haven for shoppers too, whether it’s for clothing, artwork or antiques. Dubbed the “Rodeo Drive of the East Coast,” Worth Avenue in Palm Beach is the preeminent designer shopping destination in the Sunshine State, but there is Louis Vuitton in Jacksonville and designer shops galore in Miami and Fort Lauderdale as well as on the west coast from north to south.
